I believe part of living well is living in spaces that inspire our comfort and delight.
This, of course, means different things to different people.
Architecture for me is a collaboration with clients. It’s about developing a client’s brief, responding to their project sites and analysing possibilities to deliver a personalised design. The process should seek out a strong functional resolution but be balanced with carefully resolved building detailing.
Architecture is the opportunity to make our lives richer and I believe that to be true whether it’s at home in the Australian landscape (where I was the fifth generation to grow up on the family farm in South Australia) or immersed in our cities and urban culture.
My architecture is characterised by contextual sensitivity, a minimalist approach reflective of the Australian ethos and experimental use of materials to create a textural richness.
I’m currently enjoying mentoring with the Pinnacle Foundation, volunteering as a tour leader with the Australian Architecture Association as well as being an Atelier Foundation member with the Art Gallery of NSW.
I live and work in Surry Hills and I’m currently working on projects in Sydney, Greater Sydney, Adelaide and rural South Australia.
How I work
My clients receive personalised attention and top-shelf design. My direct connection to the projects allows me to be adaptable and responsive, leading to unique and creative solutions.
I am a quintessential generalist, with working backgrounds in both interiors and architecture on residential, retail and hospitality projects. I have a practical and creative approach and pride myself on delivering services that are friendly and efficient.
I believe in fostering a collaborative environment with my clients and prefer to engage with projects across the full-service life cycle, from beginning of design to built outcome. I am, however, mindful of my clients’ commercial priorities and budgeting restraints and understand full services are not always what clients require when looking to engage design consultants.
Fees
As a sole practitioner, I am able to offer competitive pricing while providing direct access to my expertise. I often propose staged services and blended fee structures, which regularly include:
fixed fees for well-defined agreed scope of work
hourly rates for exploratory design work, negotiated design outcomes and building contract administration.
